I know that I have been fat since I was a young man. I don’t know exactly when I figured it out, but I did and knew I had to change something. I could have chosen to join a gym or something like that, but I decided to try something much bigger. The Biggest Loser was my way of getting into shape. The first thing I had to do was figure out how to do that.
I went onto the internet, and took a look at a site called biggest loser forum, which I found out had all types of information about diet and weight loss, exercise programs, helpful hints and they even had chat rooms where people can discuss the issues surrounding their weight loss program with people who are going through similar situations. After a bit of searching, I was able to find the application link and learned what the process would be to apply for the show. The process included filling out the application and creating a video The videotape was supposed to create a compelling story that convince the casting people that I was the perfect candidate for the show. The tape had to contain certain information about myself and my condition. The application and video would be all that the show would know about me, so I knew the importance of doing it right.
I filled out my application, made my video and waited, knowing that if I was lucky enough to be chosen to be on the show I would be taught how to lose weight fast, something that I knew would help me to live a long and healthy life that I could share with my family, and something that I felt was much needed. Despite all of my efforts I was sent a rejection letter. I figured they must have had people who needed more help them me. I might have been rejected, but I was still fat. I decided that even though the Biggest Loser wasn’t go to help me, I would help myself.
I made the commitment to start to eat healthy and begin exercising, which at first meant doing sets of six pack ab exercises in my living room every night until I was able to get the money together to join a fitness club and get the professional help that I needed to reach the goals that I had set for myself, and to lead me in my new healthy lifestyle. The key to my plan was simple, eat food that is healthier for me and eat less of it. Amazingly the weight started to come off. I was watching the Biggest Loser season and comparing my weight loss to the people I had hoped to compete against. The things that I was doing were really helping. Instead of the Biggest Loser Ranch, I leaned on the people who are closest to me. I learned that I liked eating foods that were healthier for me and I looked forward to my workouts in the gym. I was becoming more sociable with every passing day. I found out that food does not have to be fried to taste good. Most importantly I was happy.
I was not held back from achieving my goals just because I wasn’t on television. Even without the Biggest Loser, I transformed my life into a healthy and happy one. But I know the show helped me to do it. If I didn’t make the decision to apply I would never have been turned down. The rejection that they gave me gave me the desire to do something about the issue so I could tell them I told you so. And I did prove them wrong. I didn’t win a prize, but I did win back my life.
